March is Women’s History Month and a great opportunity to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women throughout history. The Center for Diversity, 跨信仰 and Inclusion is sponsoring several events in recognition of Women’s History:

 

WHM Event: Women’s History Month Panel

March 15, 2021 — 6:00 PM

Theme: Advocacy and Activism for Social Justice

Coker faculty and alumni define and discuss what it means to be a woman and the roles that women continue to play in Advocacy and Activism for women’s rights and social justice for everyone.

Sponsored by the Circle of Sisterhood, the Center for Diversity, 跨信仰, and Inclusion Education and TRI-ALPHA.

Title: “The Early Women of Sociology”

These women made early contributions to the field of sociology although they may not be covered in classical sociology theory courses. From thoughts on marriage, 性, 政治, 比赛, 经济学, these women helped 添加 a layer to sociological analyses that scholars today still use. This presentation aims to honor and highlight their works.

WHM Student Presentations: Women and the Criminal Justice System

March 29, 2021 — 6:00 PM

Dr. Kirsten Piatak and students, Olivia Varella and Rebecca Williams from her Spring 2020 Criminology 357 course: Women/Crime/Criminal Justice will present on women and the criminal justice system including career professionals working in this field, 受害者研究, and perpetrators to give an overview of women in these roles. Sponsored by the Center for Diversity, 跨信仰, and Inclusion Education.
